Located between Bremerton and Poulsbo, Silverdale is a quaint town several miles south of Bangor Naval Reservation. Money Magazine named Silverdale one of the “Top 100 Places to Live” in 2007, and residents enjoy exceptional features that provide an outstanding quality of life.
Silverdale sits geographically in the center of Kitsap County and encompasses roughly six square miles. Situated between Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountain range, which provides a buffer from the stronger weather coming off the Pacific Ocean, the town enjoys a relatively moderate climate. The mild temperatures encourage numerous recreational activities year round. In July, Silverdale hosts “Whaling Days,” which includes boat races, parades, entertainment, arts and crafts as well as the Kitsap Duck Race. The Kitsap Fair and Rodeo takes place in August with 4-H animal exhibits, a carnival midway, arts and craft displays plus big name entertainment. There is something happening every day of the week, but if you desire more, Tacoma and Seattle are both short distances away and offer the best of city living.

Most of Silverdale's 16,000 residents live in scenic hilltop homes or apartments with views of the nearby mountains or on the shores of Dyes Inlet. Although Old Silverdale has almost been swallowed up with the mega building booms of the past 20 years, the heart of the community can still be found near the waterfront. Charming shops and cafés can be found in this established neighborhood as well as Waterfront Park, a quiet place to stroll and enjoy the beauty of the snow-capped Olympic Mountains, or a view of Mount Rainier. A skateboard park is also available for young people who enjoy skateboarding and rollerblading.
Silverdale is also well known for Kitsap Mall – the largest shopping center on the West Sound. Residents no longer have to travel to Seattle to find a diverse selection of more than 100 stores, many of which are reputable national brands. West of Silverdale is the historic mill community of Seabeck, located along the eastern shore of Hood Canal. In its heyday, the small town was known as the “liveliest town on Puget Sound,” catering to bootleggers, rumrunners and other characters passing through. When most of its townspeople moved after the mill and shipyard were destroyed by fire in 1886, some residents remained and the once-bustling town became a well-known resort community. Scenic Beach State Park is located just south of Seabeck’s town center offering a picnic area, campground and beach.
